SMT have added Shipboard Safety Officer and Train the Trainer to their portfolio and are offering a number of dates in January and February.
The Shipboard Safety Officer is required by the Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessels (Health and Safety at Work) Regulations. It is also a requirement under the Code of Safe Working Practice for Merchant Seafarers (CoSWP). Aimed at seafarers who are either currently serving as safety representatives, or are aspiring to be one, this course aims to give them the skills required to do the job effectively.
Train the Trainer is the other new offering from SMT. Aimed at instructors that will be delivering short training modules, including at STCW level, the Train the Trainer course allows delegates to practise their teaching skills in a safe environment. The course is fully interactive, with delegates putting their knowledge into practice. Delegates will be required to give short presentations and will be provided with feedback on their delivery. The instructor is experienced, with a postgraduate degree in higher education. With four people already signed up, this course is already proving popular…
There are a number of other courses due to be released by Stream Marine Training in the near future.
