    Who Should Attend?

This training is ideal for individuals seeking to meet the initial emergency response training requirements for an ERRV (Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel) Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) Boatman. Note: Additional vessel-specific training is necessary.

    Course Overview

Our ERRV FRC Boatman Training provides learners with the essential knowledge, skills, and understanding required to perform the role of an ERRV Crew Fast Rescue Craft Boatman. Further vessel-specific training will be required.

    Entry Requirements

    • Certification: Valid OPITO-approved ERRV Crew Initial Training Shipboard Operations (ITSO) certificate or equivalent reassessment.
    • Advanced Medical Aiders: Those without a valid ITSO certificate can attend if they possess a current ERRV OODTP for Masters and Crew (OPITO Code 6190).

    Medical Requirements

    • Physical Capability: Participants must be physically capable of completing the training.
    • Medical Declarations: Learners must declare any medical conditions that could impact their ability to complete the training. OPITO-approved Centres will ensure learners provide written confirmation of their fitness and maintain records accordingly.

    Course Details

    • Duration: 16 guided learning hours.
    • Content Ratio: 40% theory, 60% practical.
    • Certification: Valid for 3 years.

    Career Progression

Upon completion, learners can progress to ERRV FRC Coxswain training after 3 months of sea service as a Boatman. Continuous training and assessment are based on the OPITO-approved Ongoing Onboard Development and Training Programme for ERRV Masters and Crews.

    Important Notes

    • If the previous certificate expires within 3 months prior to the course enrolment date, the new certificate's date should align with the expiry date of the existing certificate unless otherwise specified by the Duty Holder or Asset Owner.
