Overview:
Our approved Polar Code/Polar Survival Training takes place on our campus at the airport utilising our pool, and indoor real snow facility which is 2 miles from Campus. This course covers Introduction to Polar Code, Polar Regions & Characteristics, Survival on Ice, Wildlife in the Artic, Packing up for Rescue, Cold Weather Injuries, Helicopter Rescue from Vessel/Aircraft Rescue & Tent Building on Ice.
This course is Bahamas Maritime approved.
Course outcomes :
- Keeping safety equipment, escape routes and survival craft clear of snow and ice accumulation;
- Instructing passengers in the use of survival equipment and the actions to take in an emergency;
- Training the crew in the use of personal and group survival equipment; and
- Training each crew member in the procedures and equipment described in the Polar Water Operational Manual relevant to their assigned duties.
Pre-requisites:
Open to anyone with a designated duty on the muster list in the event of abandonment.
This can be booked with a minimum 3 weeks’ notice.
