Held at our fire ground premises next to Glasgow airport, you will pick up essential skills on fire prevention and firefighting as well as well as be able to develop your knowledge at the update courses we offer. The firefighting courses offered include STCW Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF)which can be completed individually or as part of STCW Basic Safety Training Week (BSW). The STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting provides a blend of practical experience and theory development for seafarers who have already achieved the STCW Advance Fire Fighting Certificate. This course forms part of your STCW update or refresher cycle.
The STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Firefighting (AFFU) provides theory development for seafarers who have already achieved the STCW Advance Firefighting certificate.
Refresher Training for seafarers, per STCW, the half day update training covers Fire Fighting Command and Control, but is only suitable for personnel who have been at sea within the last 5 years.

The STCW Fire Prevention and Firefighting course delivers a mix of learning in theory development and practical experience, over the two and a half days.
The STCW Fire Prevention and Firefighting Update involves a blend of theory development and practical experience, with a focus on using firefighting equipment with the use of breathing apparatus to extinguish various fires of size and intensity, including casualty rescue in smoke filled enclosed spaces.
Refresher Training for seafarers, per STCW, the update training covers Fire Fighting and Sea Survival (FPFF and PST) as well as Survival Craft Training (PSCRB) but is only suitable for personnel who have been at sea within the last 5 years.

This course is for existing offshore emergency team leaders that are required to revalidate their OPITO OERTL certification by completing training scenarios that they are unable to undertake offshore. The oil and gas industry recognises that a major objective is to prevent incidents occurring, and if they do occur to control them and minimise their effect. It is important therefore to set common standards in emergency response and to ensure that they are maintained.
