Giving Back
SMT believes very strongly in supporting worthy causes. We are only able to enjoy this business because of the support we receive from our customers worldwide, and in particular, from local companies who have done so much to help us become established. It is therefore very important for us to pay back into the local and international communities who have supported us and we do so in three main ways:
Cash For Kids is a UK-based network of charities, established by Bauer Radio that responds to the needs of children in our communities. The money raised by Cash For Kids delivers initiatives that help young people suffering from abuse or neglect, who are disabled or have special needs, or who simply need extra care an guidance. SMT is extremely proud to have raised over £70,000 for this charity during 2016 and £31,000 in 2015. We look forward to beating these figures in the coming years.
We have a unique mission, to give people of mixed abilities and circumstances the freedom to explore their ability, potential and place in the world through inclusive adventures at sea.
We deliver our Mission aboard our very special tall ship, SV Tenacious. As the only tall ship in the world designed and built to be sailed by a truly mixed ability crew, this includes people with a wide variety of impairments and health conditions.
For over 100 years, the SSBA has supported many people who have, at some point in their lives, been unable to support themselves or their families in times of need, whether through death, illness, redundancy, financial hardship, or where they are just unable to financially support their own or dependent’s ambitions for training and advancement.
Raising aspirations through sailing and enterprise.
