Description

The approved GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (BSTR) refreshes, reviews and builds on Delegates existing skills and tools obtained during BST courses, which include Fire Awareness, First Aid, Sea Survival and Working at Heights and Manual Handling. .

A participant is only allowed to attend a refresher course in the specific training module up to the date of expiry on the current certificate or training records. If a certificate or training record is expired, the participant must attend the full Basic Safety Module(s) Training(s) to obtain a new training record.

Prerequisites

All personnel participating in Refresher Training must be medically fit and fully capable of participating in all activities.
Delegates must hold valid (in-date) BST/BSTR certificates or have up-to-date training records in WINDA for each of the five safety training modules as of the date they attend the corresponding module.
Additionally, each delegate must have a personal profile in WINDA and provide their own WINDA ID prior to completing the BST training.

Please note: There is no grace period for GWO training. If any previous module has expired—even by one day—full training must be completed instead of refresher training.

The STCW Proficiency In Crowd Management course aims to guide seafarers on how to deal with large crowds and passengers during emergency situations. This type of STCW training helps delegates learn how to; lead and direct others, assess the situation and provide an effective response, identify personal and passenger stress levels as well as become aware of the reaction patterns of passengers and other personnel in emergencies. As well as, recognising specific behaviours of passengers and other personnel.
